Use Your Voice, Get Connected!

Together, when we raise our voices, we can make real change for our community. As Lane County residents, we all have a place to express our needs, interests, and concerns in a safe, respectful way. By using your voice, you can be an advocate for the things that matter in your community.

What does it mean to be an advocate?

What do I see in my community that could be improved?

What are my needs as a community member?

What issue(s)/ obstacles can I relate to the most?

Get started:
How to use your voice

Step 1: Find the right resources to learn more about your topic.
This web page can help you link up to key organizations, initiatives, & movements that support your interests and/ or needs.
Step 2: Decide Topic Direction.
Is your interest/ concern changed or governed by law(s)?
OR
Is your interest/ concern changed or overseen locally?

Step 3: Get Connected!
Find ways online or in your community to learn more about an issue and ways to get involved.

Framing your message:
How to get involved

By crafting a short “pitch” or one-minute explanation of who you are and why you care about your topic, you open up the chance for connections with who is listening and questions. Let’s call the one-minute explanation our “elevator pitch.” Click the button below to frame your own message and create your story.

Through Social Media

Many local and state agencies use social media accounts to promote change. If you have found one person or one group you really want to connect with, try searching their name on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. If you find them, try reaching out to them your message you crafted earlier. Write a short summary of who you are, what your issue is, and why they should care. Following them to stay connected is also a great way to learn more about an issue they are also passionate about. If they are involved in politics, maybe it’s an issue they are working on.

Follow our accounts on Facebook , Twitter, and Instagram to learn more about what we care about and the resources we have to share.
